NAME

       gnome-shell - Graphical shell for the GNOME desktop

SYNOPSIS

       gnome-shell [options]

DESCRIPTION

       GNOME  Shell  provides  core  user  interface functions for the GNOME 3
       desktop, like switching to windows and  launching  applications.  GNOME
       Shell  takes  advantage of the capabilities of modern graphics hardware
       and introduces innovative user interface concepts to provide a visually
       attractive and easy to use experience.

OPTIONS

       -r, --replace
              Replace the running metacity/gnome-panel

       -v, --verbose
              Shows details about the results of running `gnome-shell'.

       -g, --debug
              Run under a debugger

       --debug-command
              Command to use for debugging (defaults to 'gdb --args')

       --sync
              Make X calls synchronously, useful when debugging down X errors

       --xephyr
              Run a debugging instance inside Xephyr

       --geometry
              Specify Xephyr screen geometry

       -w, --wide
              Use widescreen (1280x800) with Xephyr

       --create-extension
              Create a new GNOME Shell extension

       --eval-file
              Evaluate the contents of the given JavaScript file
